Pharmacy Appreciation Month
Pharmacy Appreciation Month
Our pharmacists are helping end the overdose crisis in Canada
March is Pharmacy Appreciation Month in Canada, when we all take the time to acknowledge the incredibly important role pharmacy teams play in providing health care close to home. Most of us live within 5 kms of a pharmacy, making pharmacists pillars of care in communities across the country—especially when many people struggle to access primary care due to a shortage of family doctors or living in rural/remote locations. Far from just dispensing prescriptions, these dynamic teams are administering vaccines, treating minor ailments and providing routine care to neighbourhoods like yours across the country.
At CATC, our pharmacy teams are an active partner in our patients’ recovery journey, and are fully integrated into our innovative clinic care model. We currently operate 25 full service specialized pharmacies, as well as a connected pharmacy shipping network that allows the safe delivery of medications across our network of 75+ outpatient treatment centres.
But what does this mean for our patients?
We know that people who receive their opioid use disorder medications through our pharmacies are 4 times more likely to stay in treatment, and reach their goals in recovery. In other words, pharmacy teams are champions of effective addiction recovery, and deserve to be recognized as key partners in health care delivery.
This month, we thank our incredible pharmacy teams for their dedication and hard work on behalf of those we serve!
