Celebrating Pride Month 2025

Happy Pride Month 2025

June is Pride Month—a time to honour and celebrate the resilience, strength, and achievements of the 2SLGBTQ+ community. At Canadian Addiction Treatment Centres (CATC), we recognize the importance of inclusivity and equity in healthcare, particularly in addiction treatment and recovery.

Addiction doesn’t discriminate — but access to care hasn’t always been equal

Members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community have experienced disproportionately high rates of substance use and mental health challenges. This increased risk is not due to their identities, but to the impact of systemic discrimination, social isolation, trauma, and rejection — often beginning in adolescence.

They have also often faced unique barriers when seeking healthcare and support for addiction. Stigma, discrimination, and a lack of culturally competent care can exacerbate feelings of isolation, negatively impacting access to recovery support.

At CATC, we believe that everyone deserves a space to heal. That’s why we work to ensure our services are inclusive, trauma-informed, and grounded in respect for every individual’s identity and lived experience.

What Pride Means at CATC

  • We celebrate diversity among our staff and those we serve

  • We listen and learn from 2SLGBTQ+ voices within our communities

  • We strive to create nonjudgmental spaces where people can access the care they need

Recovery is not one-size-fits-all. It’s personal, it’s complex, and it’s made possible when people are met with compassion and understanding.

This Pride Month, and every month, we remain dedicated to supporting the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
