Recovery Month: #MyRecovery
Recovery Month: #MyRecovery
September is Recovery Month! Across Canada, communities are coming together to celebrate recovery, end stigma, and raise awareness for resources and supports that help people live their best quality of life at any stage of recovery.
Working together to help Canadians in recovery
Diverse and respectful collaboration is one of the most powerful ways to ensure people across Canada have fast and easy access to evidence-based addiction treatment and lifesaving harm reduction like Naloxone. At CATC, we’re deeply committed to working closely with community, healthcare, and government partners to create more accessible pathways to treatment, especially for underserved and disproportionately impacted communities.
Our community clinics provide same-day access to opioid use disorder treatment in over 70 communities across Ontario and British Columbia. For people who need a full-time stay treatment experience, our 3 inpatient addiction treatment centres provide intensive inpatient treatment and medical detox in a cozy home-like setting surrounded by natural beauty. We also bring recovery straight into people’s living rooms with our Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program, which provides an accessible alternative to in-person treatment for people who are suited to an online addiction treatment. We’re working with partners across the country to get people who need help into the type of treatment that meets them where they are and helps them reach their goals with dignity and compassion.
We also collaborate with our patients and treatment referents to provide individualized person-centred care that meets their unique needs. Recovery doesn’t look the same for everyone– it takes effective two-way communication, accountability and transparency to promote better health outcomes and lasting recovery.
Raising the bar of excellence in quality care through accreditation
Our addiction treatment programs are accredited with Accreditation Canada and CARF, meaning we consistently go above and beyond in every aspect of our operations and service standards. As part of this, we collect and report on comprehensive data around our patients’ health outcomes and other important quality indicators important to maintaining the highest bar of care excellence.
We believe that trust is critically important in providing life-changing addiction treatment, and we build (and keep) that trust through accountability to everyone we engage with, from patients and their loved ones to healthcare delivery partners.
My Life. My Story. My Recovery.
We’re proud of each and every person who walks through our doors, or logs on to our Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program, with the goal of taking back control of their lives from substance use disorder. The people we provide care for aren’t just patients: they’re people with unique stories and lived experiences. Stigma around substance use, and people who use drugs, is dehumanizing and harmful – painting everyone with one brush and spreading ignorance about the realities of addiction. Fear of judgment and consequences of disclosure are also some of the main reasons people don’t reach out for help.
During Recovery Month we’re asking Canadians to share their stories about what led them to recovery and their experience with treatment, so that others can feel empowered to open up and seek help, too. #MyRecovery
