Celebrating National Nursing Week
Celebrating National Nursing Week
During National Nursing Week, we’re celebrating the essential role our nurses play in our patients’ and clients’ journeys toward recovery.
This year’s theme, “Changing Lives. Shaping Tomorrow,” reflects our mission and the impact our nurses have in the communities we serve.
Nurses are dedicated champions in our patients’/clients’ recovery from substance use disorder and underlying mental health issues. In addition to providing essential medical care, they also offer compassionate, trauma-informed support that can make all the difference for someone in addiction treatment. For people in our care, the recovery process is never easy–our nurses make the journey toward a better tomorrow a little less daunting, and a lot more comfortable.
As we look towards the future, the role of nurses in addiction treatment continues to evolve. They are caregivers, educators, advocates, and healthcare innovators. By adopting evidence-based practices and participating in research, nurses are at the forefront of transforming addiction treatment. They are also breaking down stigma around addiction, leading to more compassionate, effective treatment approaches that will help define the future of addictions care in Canada.
During National Nursing Week, let’s all take a moment to acknowledge and appreciate the extraordinary contributions of nurses in both rapid access outpatient addiction treatment and intensive inpatient addiction treatment. Their dedication, compassion, and expertise not only change lives today, but also pave the way for a brighter, healthier tomorrow for thousands of Canadians every day.
From May 6-12, we will be sharing interviews with some of our nurses across our network, learning about what they do (and why they do it). Be sure to check back often throughout the week!
